Calls for greater safety in the farming industry
According to Health and Safety Executive statistics, the number of deaths in farming accidents is running at nearly one per week. The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) are calling on the industry to put its house in order. According to APIL, there is a culture of dangerous risk taking in the farming industry where farm workers are traditionally resistant to what they see as 'red tape'. Farm owners need to implement sensible common sense safety measures to reduce the toll that these accidents are taking.
