Teenager and man die in collision

The scene of a crash in Bristol where a man and a teenager were killed has been showered with floral tributes.

The pair were killed after their black Mercedes collided with a seven-tonne Royal Mail lorry. Three other people were also badly injured.

The accident happened near Stoke Gifford, South Gloucestershire, on the B4057 Winterbourne Road at the junction with the B4427 Old Gloucester Road.

The driver of the Mercedes, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old passenger died of his injuries in Frenchay Hospital.

After arriving at the scene, rescue teams found two other passengers, thought to be in their early 20s, unconscious. They remain in a critical condition at the hospital.

The 44-year-old lorry driver remains in hospital after suffering a serious back injury.

The 17-year-old who died was named locally as Filton College student Jimmy Tyrer of Winterbourne, a keen boxer and former Ridings High School pupil.
