Driver charged after fatal crashA man has been charged with causing the death of a woman who died in hospital after suffering serious injuries, in a car crash in Coventry.
A 27-year-old man was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, perverting the course of justice and failing to stop following a collision. Coventry Magistrates' Court remanded him in custody to appear again on September 6.
Jean Reid, 45, was found on the pavement in Whitmore Park Road after the car she had been a passenger in crashed into a flat-bed in Hen Lane, Holbrooks on August 22. She died in hospital on August 26 as a result of the serious injuries she sustained.
In a West Midlands Police statement, the family of Ms Reid said: "Our mum, sister, auntie and friend, Jean, was a wonderful, loving and kind-hearted person who always had a smile for you no matter what. She always had time for you when you needed her and was tragically taken away from us."
Another 28-year-old man arrested in relation to the crash has been bailed pending further inquiries.
