Suspect's collapse probed by IPCCAn investigation is under way after a man collapsed while being charged at a Kent police station.
The man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving shortly before midnight on August 22 and was taken to Medway police station. He has a serious medical condition.
The next morning, the man was about to be charged at the custody desk when he collapsed, according to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). The 45-year-old has since made a full recovery.
IPCC Commissioner Nicholas Long said it was not yet established if officers regularly checked his condition and took his intoxication into account.
"We will be examining what consideration was given to treating his serious medical conditions. Our investigation will therefore focus on whether the guidelines were followed," said Mr Long.
