Six injured in A14 10-vehicle crash

Six people have been injured after 10 vehicles were involved in a crash on a main Northamptonshire road.

According to a police spokeswoman, a lorry carrying a steel container ran into a lane of stationary traffic on the A14 between junctions 10 and 11, near Kettering.

Two women were airlifted to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry. They were a 56-year-old from Hayes, near Slough, and a 19-year-old from Kettering.

While four drivers - a 29-year-old from Suffolk, a 36-year-old from Thrapston, a 39-year-old from Islip and a 23-year-old from Kettering - were taken by ambulance to Kettering General Hospital.

The injuries were serious but not life threatening, the spokeswoman added.

The 29-year-old driver of the lorry, a blue LGV, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
