Footballer jailed for crash deathJordan Robertson, a footballer for Coca Cola Championship team Sheffield United, is set to begin a 32-month jail sentence for dangerous driving in a crash which killed a father of five.
The 21-year-old striker, who pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, has also been banned from driving for five years after he hit Omar Mohamed on the southbound M1 in Leicestershire on Christmas Day.
Despite being airlifted to a Coventry hospital for treatment, Mr Mohamed died on Boxing Day with his wife at his side. There were no other injuries in the crash.
Robertson, of Hazelbarrow Road, Sheffield, was on loan at Southampton FC when the crash happened.
He later told police he had been trying to change songs on his iPod in the black Mercedes CLC 180 sport car when he ploughed into the father-of-five's car.
Born in Sheffield, Robertson joined his hometown club Sheffield United as a trainee but has spent much of his career on loan to various other clubs, including Torquay United, Northampton Town, Oldham Athletic, Sheffield United's Hungarian sister club Ferencvaros and most recently League Two side Bury.
