Biker dies after ambulance crashA motorcyclist has died after crashing into an ambulance heading in the opposite direction in Taunton, Somerset.
Police said an investigation has been launched following the death of the biker, a man in his 30s, in hospital.
The accident happened on the B3227 on Thursday November 26. The ambulance was travelling from Norton Fitzwarren towards Cotford St Luke, with its flashing blue lights and siren on, attending a 999 call which reported a cardiac arrest.
An ambulance which was also attending to the cardiac arrest stopped after the crash to help the biker. He was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital, where he later died.
An informal investigation has been launched by South Western Ambulance Service and the paramedic who was driving the ambulance involved in the crash is having time off to recover.
Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses. Officers say they would particularly like to hear from a lorry driver who is thought to have been driving along the road around the time of the collision.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police's collision investigation unit on 0845 4567000.
