Policeman injured in car collisionA policeman attending an emergency call was injured when his car hit a brick wall causing him to be airlifted to hospital.
The incident occurred on the A26 London Road at Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells and firefighters had to cut through the marked police car to free the officer.
A Kent Police spokeswoman said that the crash happened in the afternoon when the police car and a Mitsubishi Colt hit two stationary cars, following which the police car hit a brick wall.
An air ambulance was called to take the police officer to hospital in London, but it in unclear whether anyone else involved was injured.
The spokeswoman said: "The nature of his injuries is not yet known.
"The exact circumstances of the incident are not yet known and a full investigation has begun.
"It is known that the police vehicle was travelling along the A26 towards Tunbridge Wells and was responding to an emergency call."
The road was expected to be closed for some time while emergency services dealt with the incident.
