Falling ceiling panel hits shoppersFour customers at luxury department store Selfridges have been treated for injuries by paramedics after a ceiling panel fell on their heads.
They were shopping in the ground floor accessories area of the Manchester Exchange Square branch when the incident happened on Tuesday morning.
The fallen ceiling panel caused "minor injuries" such as superficial bruising and a nosebleed, which were seen by ambulance staff within five minutes of the event at 8.15am.
Cordons were immediately placed around the accessories department, which has since been reopened after the faulty ceiling was fixed.
A Selfridges spokesman said: "We can confirm that a three-foot square piece of light plastic from the ceiling fixture fell in our Manchester Exchange Square store.
"After investigation Selfridges confirms that the incident was due to a faulty access hatch in the ceiling."
