Pair on trial over Corfu deathsThe trial of two former Thomas Cook employees who are accused of manslaughter is set to resume in Corfu.
Richard Carson and Nicola Gibson will face the manslaughter charge at Corfu Town courthouse over the deaths of Christianne Shepherd, seven, and her six-year-old brother Robert.
The children were overcome by carbon monoxide fumes while on a family holiday in October 2006.
Carson and Gibson, who worked for the tour company at the time when the incident happened, also face charges of causing bodily injury by negligence to Neil Shepherd, the children's father, and his partner Ruth Beatson.
They both fell into a coma and were admitted to hospital, but survived the poisoning.
A spokesman for Thomas Cook said the accident was "unique and unforeseeable" and was not the fault of either Carson or Gibson.
Ten Greeks, including staff from the Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel in Gouvia, where the family was staying, are also due to be tried.
It is believed the tragedy was caused after carbon monoxide fumes leaked from a next-door room into the bungalow apartment the family had booked for a half-term break.
