Pedestrian hurt in police car crash

An accident involving a pedestrian and an unmarked police car in Kent has led to the hospitalisation of a Folkestone man in his forties.

The man suffered a serious head injury following the incident, on a pedestrian crossing on Cheriton Road in Folkestone.

The man is described as being in a stable condition.

He was hit by a marked police patrol car, which Kent Police say was not responding to an emergency at the time.

Det Sgt Scott Lynch stated: "We are keen to trace and speak with anyone who witnessed the incident as they may have valuable information that could help us with our enquiries."

He added that the street was busy during the time of the incident.

An investigation into the accident is now set to be undertaken by the serious collision unit within Kent Police, with details of the event also being passed onto the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
