As a leading firm in the areas of Education and Disability Discrimination our expertise is often called upon by a wide spectrum of organisations
Local Authorities, Schools, Colleges, Universities, other Public Bodies and Charities
We can provide advice and training on best practice in all areas of Education law and Disability Discrimination, including strategic matters such as the Disability Equality Duty and practice and policy development. Additionally, we are experienced in advising on the suitability and use of public law remedies.
Training can be delivered in-house and tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the individual client.
Service Providers
We have a wealth of experience in advising service providers in relation to their duties under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (as amended). We can guide service providers through the complexities of this legislation, providing practical advice on best practice and ensuring compliance with its requirements through the development of appropriate policies, practices and procedures. We are able to provide organisations with an overview of their responsibilities right through to advising and drafting policies relating to specific issues.
We are, again, happy to offer training in-house and tailor this to the specific needs of the organisation.
Services to Other Solicitors
There are many situations where solicitors firms acting on matters involving children, from Clinical Negligence to Family law, will require specialist Education law advice, most notably in the area of special educational needs and provision. With our considerable expertise in such matters we are very well placed to draw on our experience and provide clear and practical advice. Whilst we are happy to be instructed by either party, our experience is that joint instructions are often appropriate and more cost effective. We are happy to initially discuss matters informally with any firm considering instructing us.
We can provide our advice in writing, attend conferences with either the solicitor or counsel and attend Court as an expert witness if required.
Courses, Training and Continuing Professional Development
We are often asked to produce or contribute to training courses run by some of the country's leading providers of continuing professional development in the legal sphere. We have previously delivered talks, participated in conferences, run workshops and produced course materials as well as having developed e-learning materials and resources for our corporate clients. We are happy to develop courses and provide training in any area of Education or Disability Discrimination in whichever medium our clients require. Those considering this service in relation to Disability Discrimination in Employment should contact our Employment Department.
Any organisations considering instructing us are welcome to contact our specialist team for an informal discussion.
