Tim and Isidoro have been members of PEOPIL for a number of years now and are regular attendees of the annual conferences. On this occasion, the annual Conference in Dublin received lawyers from various jurisdictions in Europe, America and South Africa. In total, lawyers from 24 jurisdictions acting for Claimants all over the world were in attendance.
Levenes have an international outlook thanks to having so many solicitors who speak a foreign language and that outlook includes to the USA where although English is the dominant language there is a large Spanish speaking population too. Where clients in England and Wales are injured in an accident in the USA, whether as part of a package tour or during independent travel, we can work with American law firms to ensure that justice is achieved for those clients.
At Levenes Solicitors, we always look at how we can conclude our client’s cases in the best way possible and that will usually mean trying to settle the claim rather than going to court. Of course, as the old saying goes – “It Takes Two to Tango” and if we cannot settle then we prepare for trial.
We are quite often asked to review cases for clients who have had other solicitors acting for them. Sometimes we take over the case and see it to a successful conclusion. In one case recently, we had to bring a claim against the previous solicitor for their negligence.
Levenes have dealt with a number of cases recently where the employer has no insurance. Typically, these are small machine shop or factory workshops employing a handful of people. These workplaces use circular saws, band saws and other machines which are very dangerous if not properly maintained.
We are often asked to take over a case which another law firm has been running. There may be several reasons why you are not sure if your current solicitors are right for you. Levenes have taken over many cases from previous solicitors and seen those cases through to a successful conclusion.
Commenting on the ride Tim said “I work with clients with spinal cord injury who have claims for injuries, many of whom have received vital help and assistance from them SIA. They are there for anybody with a spinal cord injury whether they have a claim or not. I wanted to do this ride to help raise awareness and give something back. I was not expecting to literally give blood for the cause, but having done so, I hope that donors will be generous and dig deep to support such a fabulous charity”.
On 27th April Isidoro Bonilla, Senior Solicitor and Abogado in Levenes specialised in Foreign Claims was invited to Malaga to talk about Accidents at Work in the English Jurisdiction.
On Monday 21st May 2018, some members of Levenes’ staff walked 10km with the Lord Chief Justice and thousands of lawyers to raise funds for the London Legal Support Trust which funds Law Centres and pro bono agencies in and around London.
